Tumor Registrars Association Of Maryland, a volunteer organization dedicated to the support of cancer data management professionals, promotes education and guidance in the areas of cancer registry and cancer program administration.
VISION .................................................................................
We envision playing an active role in the improvement and the standardization of cancer data management, and providing education on current standards set by various standard setters.
ETHICS .................................................................................
To carry out the purpose of the organization, the Tumor Registrars Association of Maryland has adopted the following code of ethics:

The Cancer Registrar will:

1. Conduct his/herself with dignity, and in doing so, bring honor to his/herself, the Cancer Registrar profession, and the association.
2. Preserve the confidentiality of the health records and decisions made at Cancer Committee Meetings and Cancer Conferences.
3. Promote to others the tenets of confidentiality.
4. Represent truthfully and accurately professional credentials, education, and experience.
5. Refuse to participate in illegal and unethical acts and uphold the standards of the profession by reporting any breach of this code to the Board of Directors of the Association.

Guidelines for Consultants:

1. The rules of confidentiality shall be strictly observed with respect to one’s knowledge of a great many Hospitals.
2. Use of Hospital’s materials for samples or examples shall be used only by permission in writing.
3. When representing commercial vendors, care shall be taken to avoid downgrading other products or services, wether commercial or non – profit.
4. Conflict of interest shall be avoided.
5. The code of ethics of the Tumor Registrars Association of Maryland shall be adhered to at all times.
